Explore the small villages which either cling to the hillside or lie in the valleys, and you will discover small taverns, "trattorias" and agriturismo. Calosso d'Asti is a small village, whose history dates back several centuries. Despite the passing years, the village has remained relatively unchanged. Walking along its steep roads informs visitors of its siple and rustic atmosphere. We are located at Alto Monferrato, which is 20 km from Alba and 25 from Asti. You will find yourself surrounded by hills covered with vineyards which enjoy plenty of sunshine. Think about wines, truffles and mushrooms, and you will evoke the aroma and ambience of Piedmont and the surrounding areas. Table wines such as Barbera, Nebbiolo, Barbaresco, Barolo, Arneis, and dessert wines such as Moscato, Malvasia, Brachetto adorn Piedmontese tables. The cuisine of Monferrato and Langhe is genuine and simple, rich in savoury dishes. Many dishes use anchovies, garlic, capers, stuffed fresh pasta, and local meats. Our tavern "Gallina Sversa" (Tipsy Hen) is situated in the foothills of the Calosso community, in a small outying area called "Piana del Salto". Opened on June 12th, 2004, Gallina Sversa enjoys the best modern facilities, but retains the organic and rustic flavour of the countryside! Once upon a time, bread baked in the oven on the premises supplied the whole village. Now, here we are. This is today. Come and enjoy the experience of a rich and flavour-filled past.
